- 25 min. of silent reading OR finish writing the 6-10 sentence paragraphs on:
  1. A "lived" or "observed" story from summer.
  2. Compare and contrast old and new media OR Discuss types of old and new media that you prefer.
  3. Analyze the benefits and problems of social media.

- View the examples of election political cartoons and memes to deconstruct the messages.
- Work in assigned groups in the library to deconstruct a collection of political cartoons.


Thurs. Sept. 10, 2015
- 25 min. of silent reading OR finish writing the 6-10 sentence paragraphs on:
  1. A "lived" or "observed" story from summer.
  2. Compare and contrast old and new media OR Discuss types of old and new media that you prefer.
- View "Media Literacy" DVD  (23 min.).
- Discuss and prepare notes on the outline sheet about the benefits and problems of social media.
- Use these notes to start writing your third paragraph: Analyze the benefits and problems of social media. You may narrow the discussion to address high school students.

Wed. Sept. 9, 2015

- 25 min. of silent reading OR finish the 6-10 sentence paragraph on a "lived" or "observed" story from your summer.
- Review and understand the distinctions between old media and new media.
- Create a comparative mind map diagram representing types of old and new media that we consume and produce.
- Start writing an informative paragraph that discusses the differences between types of old and new media; or write a paragraph that discusses the types of old and new media that you prefer and use.
